2007 Student Equipment Grant Notice
Nortek UK is soliciting proposals from graduate students for an equipment loan and travel grant. The award is open to graduates involved in any discipline of oceanography or ocean engineering and will be given to the most outstanding research project proposal, utilising a Nortek instrument.
The award recipient will receive a Nortek Aquadopp current meter, Aquadopp profiler, AWAC, Vector velocimeter or Vectrino for a 3 month deployment, as well as £500 travel expenses to attend a national conference, in order to present the scientific results from this project.

Proposals will be judged on:
- Scientific merit
- Innovative spirit
- Demonstrated need for equipment
- Ability to obtain quantifiable results in a 3 month deployment period
Submission requirements:
- Proposals should include student's CV
- A three (3) page detailed description of the intended research plan including scientific hypothesis
- Nortek instrument required
- Deployment time and proposed location
- Detailed plan indicating safe keeping and recovery of instrument

All proposals must be submitted by 17.00 hours on the 24th November 2006 and the name of the winner will be issued on the 15th December 2006 on our special grant website www.nortekweb.co.uk
Award Details:
The £500 grant is intended to be used to cover travel and accommodation expenses to attend a UK National or European conference in order to present results from this project. The money will be payable upon abstract acceptance in a suitable conference. Student must acknowledge NortekUK in any presentation and publication resulting from data collected with Nortek equipment. Data collected with Nortek equipment will be shared with NortekUK for development and marketing purposes.
